Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is perfect for relaxation. The hallmark of Swedish massage is long, gliding
strokes, known as effluerage. Other strokes involve kneading,
compression, vibration and other manipulation of soft tissues, as well
as passive stretching. Variations of these techniques are often utilized within other modalities.
Swedish massage is designed to
relax muscles, increase circulation, remove metabolic waste from
tissues, and give the recipient a feeling of connectedness and awareness
of the body. By flushing metabolic wastes, Swedish massage reduces
recovery time after muscle strain. It can be stimulating, soothing and
helps reduce emotional as well as physical stress. Because of its
versatility and myriad benefits, Swedish massage is frequently
incorporated into regular programs for self-care and stress management.
I
offer sessions of 60, 90, or 120 minutes. Longer sessions are
characterized by additional time spent on problem areas without
sacrificing the full-body massage experience. Longer sessions also
allow for more stretching than shorter sessions.
